Queer Eye

Updated: May 29, 2018

Streaming on Netflix—with Season 2 coming soon!

Metadata: 2018 | TV-14 | 1 Season, 8 episodes, 45 minutes each

Genre: Reality TV

Why did I watch it: I wanted something uplifting, and Queer Eye looked like it would fit the bill. (Also, the world needs some shiplap-free design advice.)

The Netflix description really undersells how wonderful this show is. Basically, the Fab 5—made up of the delightful Antoni, Bobby, Jonathan, Karamo, and Tan—dole out fashion, grooming, food, culture, and design advice to one other man each episode. From a dump truck driver to an app developer, one thing is for sure: All of the "advisees" need to implement serious self-care and self-esteem routines. I mean, some of them really really need a helping hand.

Whatever, you're probably thinking. How is this different from any other makeover show out there? Plot twist! Queer Eye has left the Twitter-verse reeling with emotions, myself included. When Karamo and Corey talk about police violence? The guys leaving Corey a quilt made out of his father's old shirts? Literally everything about the AJ episode—I can feel the tears welling back up just thinking about it! This is the show that none of us knew we needed.

13 out of 10 would watch again.

Happy streaming!
